Thoroughbred Arabic

Origins
The origins of thoroughbred Arabic are poorly understood and subject to much debate and no consensus has been reached. One thing is still accepted by all: this race is very old, eastern and forged by the harsh life in desert or semi-desert.

Starting Labour selection of the Persian Sassanid dynasty, the Arab-Muslim Arab create horses that astonish both the first cross by their agility.

The first pure-blood Arab arrived in France in the eighth century during the Battle of Poitiers. In the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, the Order of the Temple planned to equip its master and senior dignitaries of four horses including a turcoman, in other words a thoroughbred Arabic. A few centuries later, Napoleon Bonaparte worked to promote the race allowing it to reproduce a purebred. Previously, it was used only in passing.

In the eighteenth century, a few stallions were imported and crossed with mares people of Great Britain. The products of these crosses gave the pure-blood English.

Three Arab stallions are particularly present in the race thoroughbred English:

* Byerley Turk, imported from Turkey in the years 1700.
* Darley Arabian, born in 1705. He joined the team of Mr Darley in England.
* Godolphin Arabian, born in 1724, was offered by Louis XV Bey of Tunis.

Father of all races, the blood of these great glorious ancestors flows through the veins of almost all breeds of horses modern light. The thoroughbred Arabic was used through the ages to refine and improve many races.

Among the famous stud farm, it is worth mentioning Janow Podlaski (Poland), Tersky Stud (Russia), Om el Arab (Germany) and Crabbet Park (England). In the latter lived the "horse of the century," Skowronek, whose lineage produced over 1000 champions in 15 years. Note finally that the USA alone have nearly 90% of horses of this race.

The desert
Its characteristics and its homogeneity were already well established in the late 1st millennium, under the dynasty Abasside Caliphs of Baghdad. The desert has forged the horse Arabic. Almost a thousand years of nomadic life in a hostile environment have made enduring and sober. Then life alongside Bedouin led him to travel long distances in a short time. There is gained speed and strength.

In the desert dunes can succeed loss of sight, under a scorching heat followed by the frigid night. But the desert is also made up of rocky plateaus and snow-capped mountains. This environment is hostile and varied and lack of water remains the greatest concern. Also, horses that live there must be content with just a few tufts of grass here and there, a few dates, scarce pasture found at the whim of ways. When they live with men, this food can be supplemented with milk camel.

Became a household, the thoroughbred Arabic is often raised by women and children when it is foal. In adulthood, he will live near the tent, and remaining sellé often hindered. This promiscuity makes it very close to the man of the desert.

Contrary to popular opinion, the desert warriors often amounted mares, more calm and less fougueuses the whole, too quick to give warning hennissant. In the desert nomads gave some of the dried meat to the Arab thoroughbreds that helped to keep the force.
