Batman
The leading figure of the comic that was inspired by a bat.

Batman (originally known as the Bat-Man) is a character in comics whose adventures are published by DC Comics. It appeared for the first time in Detective Comics # 27 in May 1939. It has since become, with Superman and Spider-Man, a super-hero most popular. The character of Batman was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, but only Kane remains officially credited.

Under the pseudonym of Batman lurks in fact the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. The murder of his parents committed before his eyes led him to develop his physical and intellectual abilities in a climax to combat crime. Unlike most superheroes, Batman has no authority, its strength lies elsewhere; in his detective abilities, his intelligence, his physical capabilities, and access to technology.

Character description and development
