(Movie)
The name of Fox Terrier (Foxy in English, meaning cunning foxy) refers, in fact, the two varieties of the same breed of dog, the fox terrier-haired smooth (smooth fox terrier in English) and the fox - Hard-haired terrier (Wire fox terrier) who have been raised independently in England until the middle of the nineteenth century. Both varieties of terriers are very similar, the only difference being the coat: haired fox terrier has the smooth hair flat and the fox terrier-haired hard coat "wire" with a dense texture and steep.
Origin
This race was created to assist in the hunt foxes. Without the dog, a hunting would fall into the water if the fox reached its burrow. But the small size of the fox terrier allows him to go loosen its grip on the bottom of his hole. For these hunts, the fox terrier had to pass tests in order to be able to accompany the man:
* First condition: It must have the same speed as foxhounds in the race.
* The second condition it should be small enough to pick up the fox at the back of his lair.
* Third and final condition: he had to be tough and cunning enough to confront its prey because the fox could very well turn around and pick the fight.
"Terrier" was generic until the latter part of the nineteenth century, and was related to a group of dogs and type of varying size that have been selected for hunting. The first fox terrier was a dog called Foiler foiler or old, registered by the CIRCA in 1875, and the race has continued the process of benchmarking. Improved kinds of races led to the award of new names that we find today.
Temperament
Undoubtedly, the Fox Terrier has a true temperament Terrier, ie it has strong instincts hunter, it is careful and lively, full of energy and courage, and inclined to dominate his entourage. Of these predispositions confronted with the experience of the dog during his education, he derives his character itself. Therefore, this dog is a wonderful companion for hunting or recreation for the owner who has managed to establish itself as a "head of pack, but it is also why lax behaviour of the teacher will a poor representative of his race. The Fox Terrier is not a dog show, although too happy to be around you, it is able to spend hours in your office or car. The qualities that make a good hunter, on and below ground, must not turn into aggression and, failing to hunt, must be channeled into activities rewarding for the dog to his master. It is only to have participated in an endless party ball or Frisbee to be convinced.
