The forest chicken was the common name for wild chicken kinds that lived in the forest.
In the Javanese language was mentioned by the name of the foundation chicken, in the Madura language ajem the foundation, and in English junglefowl; all of them referred to the place of his life and his characteristics that were wild.
These chickens from the aspect of the form of the body and the behaviour really like kept chickens, because indeed was the ancestors from the kept chicken.
Male in a female manner different the form of the body, the colour and his measurement (dimorfisme sexual, sexual dimorphism).
The male forest chicken had the hair that coloured-warni and beautiful, was different from his hen that tended to be monotonous and dull.

All of them, there were four species of the forest chicken that spread beginning with India, of Sri Lanka down to South-East Asia including the Indonesian Archipelago Island.
The four species were:
Ayam-forest red, Gallus gallus
Ayam-forest Sri Lanka, Gallus lafayetii
Ayam-forest grey, Gallus sonneratii
Ayam-forest green, Gallus varius

His two kinds were received in Indonesia, spread natural especially at the west of the island.
The two kinds were (1) Chicken-forest red, that liked the relative forest part was closed; and (2) Chicken-forest green, that more liked the forests was open and the territory was hilly.

The forest chicken was the eater all, despite tended as the eater of the seeds.
However as the chicken generally, the forest chicken also ate sprouts of grass, insects and various small animals that were found by him.
These birds usually live teamed up or in the small group.
Sleep on the shrub twig or a mother, was not too far from on the land.
In the egg-laying season, female made the nest simple on the land and took care of his egg until hatching.
Forest chicks were taken care of by his female mother.
Unlike the kept chicken, the forest chicken was good at to fly; not long after left his place nest hatched.
