Dolphins are of marine mammals and river belonging to the order Cetacea. The term dolphin probably derives from the ancient Greek δελφίς / delphís, "spirit of the sea", perhaps himself from δελφὐς / delphús, "uterus".
The dolphin designates french toothed cetaceans (Odontocetes) under five metres usually with a long rostrum:
1. The species most common and familiar dolphins, which are found mostly in the delphinariums, is the bottlenose dolphin (bottlenose dolphins truncatus).
2. Many species of the family Delphinidés which also includes orcas.
3. The Delphinoïdes and river dolphins living in the rivers of Asia or South America in which the family of platanistoïdes.
Other marine animals are sometimes incorrectly called "dolphin" as cetaceans rostrum in the short or barely existing as narwhal and beluga, two animals larger than dolphins classics, as well as porpoises, which are much smaller.
It often lends a social dolphin, but some species are solitary. These animals are popular as some of these species can be approached by the man and are affectionate. Some dolphins are known to have saved men.
