Cockroach
The cockroaches are the order of Blattoptères (Blattaria) from the recent phylogenetic classification. They had previously belonged to the order of Dictyoptères with Mantes.

The cockroach is also called cockroach or cancrelat (Cockroach in Quebec, ravet the Caribbean). Some species are human commensal, mostly in the kitchen where they feed on leftovers and waste provisions.

The 4000 species spread around the world vary in shape, color and size. She appeared on Earth there are about 400 million years old.

Morphology
The size adults can vary from 1 to 5 cm, the body has an oval, flattened dorso-ventral. Their coloration can range from yellow to black. Food

Reproduction

Life
The cockroaches love darkness. They hide during the day or when the light appears (lucifuges). In the apartments, they look for obscure nooks, hot and humid. They come out at night to feed. So when individuals appear in the presence of the day, this means that their number is large and that the infestation is advanced!

All stages are omnivorous and larvae as voracious as adults. There is no larval stage of metamorphosis nor visible at the cockroach, which is hémimétabole.

Particulars
The cockroaches live in apartments are gregarious insects. They produce an aggregation pheromone. It is a fragrant substance encouraging individuals of one species to regroup. Shelters where their feces are abundant appear (in English Fecal a Focal Point). At this point, the insects are safe. The abundance of excrement and the pheromone cockroaches indicates that their hideout has not yet been discovered by their enemies (the inhabitants of the housing). Experimentally, we observe that cockroaches are developing more slowly when they are isolated. In addition, cockroaches feed more in the presence of this pheromone.

The cockroaches live in small family groups. These groups are made up of individuals of the same age and probably born of the same mother. In homes, these groups come together to form a large community of several hundred or even thousands of individuals. However, the concept of hierarchy or specialization of tasks is non-existent. Each individual is autonomous.

The cockroaches are highly resistant, including doses of radiation lethal to humans.

Hygiene de rigueur
The cockroach does not characterize an apartment sale, but an apartment overlooked: from the appearance of the first signs, we need to take action, namely:

* Clean all the furniture, inside (crumbs, grains of rice, noodles, seeds meal, flour ...) and outside (grease stains).
