Moorish Idol
(DVD)
The family of fish Halter (Zanclidae) is monotypisch, ie It contains only one type and that only one species, the fish Halter (Zanclus cornutus).
It comes in all of the tropical reefs Indopazifik, to depths of 180 meters. Mostly we see him in small groups, sometimes in large swarms of hundreds of copies. The 22 cm long fish has many expectant anatomical similarities with the Doctor fish, but it lacks the scalpels on the tail stalk.
He feeds on sponges, moss animals, bristle worms and algae. Halter fish spawn in the evening hours, then in pairs to the water surface and enter their pelagic eggs.
